Company History

Oryx Advanced Materials (OAM) began as Advanced Technology Inc. (ATI) in 1976 in New Jersey, USA. ATI specialized at the time in advanced ceramic to metal joining. In the 1980's the emerging sputtering target business required this expertise, which led to ATI becoming a leading company in bonding difficult materials such as carbon and ceramic targets. ATI relocated to Silicon Valley in 1990, and in 1993 became part of public company Oryx Technology.

In 1999 a private investment group purchased the bonding and target division of Oryx Technology, renaming it as Oryx Advanced Materials Inc (OAM).

Also 1999 Oryx Advanced Materials Sdn Bhd in Penang Malaysia was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary to serve the growing demand for sputtering targets and bonding services for the data storage industry concentrated in SE Asia.

In 2004 Oryx Advanced Materials (Singapore) Pte Ltd was formed to provide local bonding and sales and service for the local data storage industry.

In 2007 Oryx Advanced Materials continues to expand its operations in Asia and Fremont, developing processes for both high-end data storage and photovoltaic application at its corporate headquarters and R&D center in Fremont, and transferring these processes copy exact to its manufacturing facilities in Penang Malaysia.
